About R.B. Hauf

R.B. Hauf was born and raised in Payne County, Oklahoma. He has worked as a jailer, deputy sheriff, narcotics investigator and Sheriff’s investigator for the Payne County Sheriff’s Department for the past eighteen years. He has almost eight hundred hours of professional development training in areas such as managing small agencies, narcotics and dangerous drugs, crisis intervention, computer forensics, criminal investigations, and community and human relations. He received a certificate of commendation for achieving the highest score in the firearms competition during CLEET Academy, as well as other commendations for his exceptional effort and dedication to job performance during his tenure as a deputy sheriff.

“I believe my eighteen years of experience within the Sheriff’s Department have prepared me for the responsibilities associated with the office of Sheriff. I have developed many positive relationships over the years with my peers, officers from other agencies within the county and state, the court system, and especially the citizens of Payne County. I am honest, trustworthy and dependable, all characteristics vital to this office. I understand the dedication this office requires to operate efficiently, fairly and safely. My vast experience in several capacities of law enforcement makes me the most qualified candidate for this position. The support I have received in recent months from citizens, business owners, law enforcement personnel and family has been overwhelming. Therefore, I believe this is the perfect time for me to achieve my life-long goal of becoming Sheriff of Payne County.”

R.B. is the son of Gene and Jo Hauf, long-time business owners in Payne County, and brother to Rick Hauf, a Stillwater Fire Department Battalion Chief. He is married to Anita, a first grade teacher at Will Rogers Elementary in Stillwater. He has two children; Jessica, a sophomore at Oklahoma Christian University, and Joshua, a freshman at Stillwater Junior High. He and his family are members of the Stillwater Church of Christ.
